Job Description
The CIC bioGUNE is a cutting-edge biomedical research organization addressing global public health challenges through research at the interface between structural, molecular and cell biology. ExoMetaboLab has a broad research portfolio in different diseases, ranging from research with molecular biology strategies to high throughput technologies based on metabolomics, among others.
The 3 years thesis project is focused on the identification of novel and molecular mechanisms underlying liver toxicity and inflammation, starting from low inflammatory states and progression to severe conditions such as Drug-induced liver injury and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). For this main purpose metabolomics will be used to find and identify biomarkers specific to disease progression that can result in optimal interventions and potential targets for drug discovery. Metabolomics, which is the closest omics science to the phenotype that can analyze thousands of metabolites in a single run, will be used for biomarker discovery using liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry. The project will be held in collaboration with different national and international research institutions.
What we are looking for
We are seeking for a highly motivated predoctoral scientist interested on working in the aforementioned project. The successful candidate should have a degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or Biochemistry/Biotechnology. Previous experience with liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry is preferred and desirable, and knowledge on statistics are valued. The ideal candidate for this position must be independent, self-sufficient and capable of facing challenges. As part of the ExoMetaboLab the candidate will also take part in the maintenance and improvement of the research group tasks.
What we offer
We offer a full-time predoctoral contract in the ExoMetaboLab at the CICbioGUNE research institute for 3 years, as well as training courses, meetings, and an exceptional working environment (www.cicbiogune.es).
Starting date: Before November 30th, 2023.
