The session began with a presentation of the GEIVEX Young Board, its members and organization in the recently created task forces to drive different initiatives. The Board shared its plan to organize webinars every two months, up to one hour long each, with the aim of fostering a dynamic space for networking and knowledge building, especially beneficial for early career researchers.

The main topic of the seminar was EV isolation techniques, with an overview of the most commonly used methods. The discussion highlighted the relationship between purity and yield: size exclusion chromatography provides high purity, whereas ultracentrifugation offers higher yield but may co-isolate contaminants. It was emphasized that the choice of method depends on the research objective, with immune affinity techniques being recommended when targeting specific EV subpopulations, such as in biomarker validation studies. There was consensus that there is no one-size-fits-all technique.

Participants were encouraged to email their comments and a Google form was shared to submit questions for future sessions. The next seminar is scheduled for September and its topic will be determined by the participants’ responses.
